Objectifs : Work with the constraints of an already urbanized site, in the very dense city center of Rotterdam (Netherlands). Reactivating the existing and abandoned public spaces. « Living in Lijn » is a project that aims to offer lovely homes, with qualitative atmosphere, in a very dense city center. In order to reactivate the existing and abandoned publics spaces, this project proposes two scenarios. Since there is already a very large public square in the north, the green area is completely privatised. The idea is that the inhabitants of the three surrounding buildings share and maintain this collective garden. In order to isolate this space from the activities of the square, the footprint of the existing building is maintained. Like a protective screen, it separates the noisy square from the calm and restful collective garden. To the south, the green area consists of two parts ; a collective garden shared by the inhabitants of the new building and a public garden. The existing building's footprint is shorten to open up the public garden on two sides. The idea is to have a walk thought the public spaces connected to the pedestrian streets of the city center. |
